Most golf lovers, whether they play the game, watch it or both, would be hard pressed to remember the name Ralph Kennedy Golf historians may remember he was one of the founding members of the Winged Foot course, where many major tournaments have been played including the famous 1974 U.S Open in which Hale Irwin won at seven over par and has been dubbed The Massacre at Winged Foot However, Kennedy has a much impressive feat he has played golf on 3,165 courses covering the 48 contiguous states, 9 [...]

    3. A story worthy of the comparison to Lou Gehrig s streak How could it be that such a cool and intriguing story hasn t been told before An amateur golfer who was a viral media sensation of his day albeit through newspapers and a man of extraordinary stamina Sabino did his homework and the book is well researched and well written Bravo for bringing the story of Ralph Kennedy back to life I would love to play the Old Course at St Andrews as the 3,000th course of my playing career And Pebble Beach as [...]

    4. What a great story I love golf stories and Golf s Iron Horse is a doozie It took me back in time and allowed me to reminisce about the good old days I remember the heydays of train travel when people used to dress up when they went out Who knew that new york city was a golf mecca I love the layout of the book with the pictures interspersed throughout, it really helps to enhance the story I liked the authors pace It gets slow in one or two spots but overall is a great read.
