    1. Joelito s Big Decision is a timely children s book intended to generate discussion about the topics of economic inequality and striking Author Ann Berlak directly draws attention to the disparity between CEO salaries and worker compensation and pays homage to the struggles of migrant farm workers The text is written in both Spanish and English I enjoyed the illustrations of muralist Daniel Camacho, which are drawn in a style indicative of traditional folk art As the story could possibly be viewe [...]

    2. This is a must have children s primer on workers rights and is cross cultural in Spanish and English. The story is told through the eyes of children about something they loe dearly and think about often, their bellies.

    3. Important messages and probably befitting for middle school age children The illustration worked well with the book Received a free book, winner First Read Giveaway Thank you, Darlene Cruz

    4. I thought the content of this book was incredibly important and relevant I loved how the book is in Spanish and English I also really loved the what happened next update at the end.

    5. If we ate at MacMann s tonight, your abuelos would turn over in their graves When your uncles and I were young, we worked from dawn to dusk picking grapes in the sizzling sun Pesticides No bathrooms in the fields Now I understand that this is a children s book, and I understand that the point is to raise workers issue, but I was hoping for something sophisticated than this Joelito s Big Decision is so one sided, so poorly written, with such cheap illustrations, you could have told me that this [...]

    6. I loved this book and have actually ordered a copy for our book collection for the L.E.T s Collection at the Washington Public Library in Washington, Iowa.It is a beautiful example of teaching children about social issues, equality and standing up for what is right I also adored the fact that this edition is written in both English and Spanish so it is accessible for many of the children in our area What a brilliant concept.Disclaimer I was given an electronic copy of this book by the author in [...]

    7. While the book is short and filled with hand drawn illustrations, it s slightly too wordy to be considered a picture book That along with the topic, minimum and fair wages, makes this book suitable for middle school age students I do love that the book contains both English and a spanish translation, making it a great resource for ESL students.

    8. I received a copy of this book from a Good Reads giveaway I read this with my 4 and 6 year old This is definitely for children that are a bit older but they both said that they enjoyed the story It also sparked an important conversation with my 6 year old.

    9. I m working on my review now It will be posted here after it goes live on my blog It may take a bit to accomplish that though I felt the story helped show a sense of morality that I agree with.

    10. A fantastic book that discusses multiple social justice issues such as immigration, labor wages, and minority cultures I would definitely include this book in a class library.
