    1. 3 stars Review posted March 15, 2015Favorite quote In that context, I was waiting to no avail for Dane to be that outstanding patient advocate However, just ignore my comment because the story obviously wasn t intended to go in that direction.Me before reading The Anatomy of Perception COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASMVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASMVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM COVERGASM [...]

    2. One extra star for an exceptionally good story idea, but the execution was a complete failure.I m not going to repeat the blurb, but a broken person trying to put the pieces back together and try for a second chance Awesome idea for a story Awesome Unfortunately we never really get to see that struggle And the way the sequence of events are put together is focused on Dane as the victim of a really shitty past, rather than seeing Dane bottom out and then struggle to recover This is written with [...]

    3. Pardon me, but, who the hell rates a book less than five stars before it s out and before you even read it, huh Fucking dilettantes.

    4. OMG PURE SWEETNESS YET SO MUCH SADNESS IS INSIDEIs it worth the tears.Yes I laughed , I cried and I rejoicedd when he said I want you to fuck me so hard I can taste you I want you to fold me in half and take me to that heaven you always found when I fucked you I want you to love fucking me so much there s no other option but to be with me again and again, to wake up with me, and to paint that beauty on our souls for as long as we both shall live Be still my heartgh. In reading this book I found t [...]

    5. 2.5 starsI love the stories of lovers reuniting I love angst I love thefeelings I love the heartbreak The fishers The makeups to breakups to makeups The chemistry Butterflies Tears.Emotion I wish I could tell you I got all that in this book But I didn t But I will say I stuck through and didn t DNF There was just so many things that I found wrong and little that I found right Like Sabitcha Seriously Do people like her even exist Im all for forgiveness But I think our boy Craig couldn t have had [...]

    6. Just breathe That s what I kept telling myself throughout this amazing and emotional story Then I found myself saying it to Dane and Craig The Anatomy of Perception is a plunge into the many shades of true love True love isn t all flowers, candy, hugs, and kisses Sometimes it s cruel Sometimes between the hearts and hugs there is lies and regret There s pain, always pain Not always for you, so for those who you love so deeply Reading Dane and Craig s story was like being impaled with a knife of [...]

    7. First off, I wanted to love this book Look at the cover and the blurb It sounds and looks right up my alley but it did not translate for me Too much melodrama and not enough connection with the MCs, and don t even start me on the bitch that is Sabrina I don t like bitchy shrew secondary characters Vacuous, vapid, narcissistic women who don t use their brains, which they have, no, better to use your bitchiness and your body It started interestingly enough but the chemistry was lacking between Dan [...]

    8. 3 3.5 starsWhat worked for meI liked Dane and his family drama Even though he wasn t in the book much I loved his brother, he was my favorite character I liked the beginning of the novel and I liked the final resolution between Dane and his father. What didn t work for me.The cartoon villain She wasn t fleshed out and she ended up just bring your typical bitchy evil female character you find often in mm romances Yawn The in between of the novel got too slow at times.I did not like the back and fo [...]

    9. AJ Rose s books are some of the hardest books on the planet to write reviews for, because the threads of her stories are always so interwoven that it s almost impossible to say something that isn t going to be a spoiler Maybe it s because she knits. This was not my typical AJ Rose reading experience I usually block off release day and spend the entire day reading cover to cover This time I didn t have that luxury and I ended up reading this in small segments It s for that reason only, I had a lit [...]

    10. Not my favourite of AJ s work but her writing is excellent per usual For me this seemed to drag in places which is why I took so long to read it, although I certainly wasn t phased by the timeline jumps Craig I loved from the start, he was very open and forthright in his opinions Dane was much guarded and difficult to get to grips with, mainly I think because he had so many secrets and either couldn t or wouldn t share them with Craig, the man he d lived with for 4 years or so, although it has [...]

    11. 3.5 Intriguing stars on Prism Book Alliance I was somewhat intrigued as this started, puzzle pieces of Dane Perry s life randomly revealed Jumps back and forth between the past and present gave it a dreamlike quality, a nonlinear revelation of those puzzle pieces It also meant it took a while to get a handle on the intended focus for this story The I read, the less important the flashback chapters felt Events referenced in the present are then explained in great detailed in the past Unfortunate [...]

    12. 3.75 stars.Overall, this was a solid, well written story, with fleshed out characters I loved reading the hospital scenesDane being in his element, doing his job was fascinating I didn t care much for the two parallel storylines, past and present Skipping years of the beginning of DaneCraig s relationship made me miss the chemistry between the heroes Aside from that, the book was too long windedI d prefer it to be tighter At times it just got a bit boring, though not to the point I would conside [...]

    13. Dane Perry may have made something of himself graduating med school and becoming a promising surgical resident but underneath it all, he s a mess The really cool part about reading this book, though, is that when we first meet Dane, he s already well on his way to getting his life back together I love how AJ Rose begins her new novel The Anatomy of Perception The start of this book means everything Is it the beginning of the rest of their lives Or, just one thing that Dane is going to have to s [...]

    14. really wonderful and movingThis is such a wonderful and moving story and so beautifully wrtten This story is a light read It s fully of sorrow and pain, but also love, hope and forgiveness Tears will fall, so be prepared Buy this book, read it and enjoy.

    15. The Anatomy of Perception was a good read, but I can t help the feeling there was some wasted potential.I don t know Something seemed off.3.5 stars rounded down.

    16. Well I don t really know where to start The Anatomy of Perception, by AJ Rose, is, without a doubt, a thought provoking, emotional, soul empowering, book It will rock you to your core It will squeeze your guts so tightly and it will pull on every heartstring And then just as quickly, you will be filled with hope that forgiveness is a reachable outcome That love this powerful will have no choice but to prevail. When I finished this last night I, immediately, went to the kitchen and took my migrain [...]

    17. You know the writing advise If the backstory of your character is interesting than the current story, you are writing the wrong story that is how this story felt It made sense at the end, but until then, it was irritating for me At some point I felt a bit annoyed because the main character seemed like a poster boy for therapy gone right , but that might be just my taste I would have prefered him to have edges.

    18. Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.I really like when an author can write many stories where the plots of each might be as different from each other as night and day I like different emotional undertones, different types of characters, and different genres It shows how diverse an author is to create such different stories So, I have to say I m a little embarrassed that it took me a little while to get into this story The Power Exchange trilogy [...]

    19. A Joyfully Jay review 3.75 starsThis book had me at the first chapter, which starts out in the present It s been two years since Dane had a psychotic break and it s been two years since he has made contact with Craig It was intriguing right up front to see how these guys were going to sort it all out The story is told solely from Dane s perspective And, while many times I prefer a dual perspective, Dane s sole perspective absolutely works for this story as it is primarily his story Where this bo [...]

    20. Croissants have buttery flaky layers The Anatomy of Perception is like the layers of an onion To fully enjoy the aromatic flavors some tears have to be shed The book centers around Dane and is told from his point of view with shifts from the past to the present The shifts are done seamlessly and the reader never gets lost along the way This method had to be employed for this book to work Before Dane emotionally imploded, he kept his past carefully hidden even from the love of his life Craig He [...]

    21. Hurt comfort on steroids The writing was not terrible, and the characters were basically likeable and relatable, but a lot of the details didn t ring true to me Details of the medical situation especially the thing about a doctor basically taking a step down to become a physical therapist, as though doctors learn all of the same things plus everything else PT programs are almost as long as medical programs The way the internship and residency were done didn t seem right eitherSD in novels never [...]

    22. This is one of my favorite authors of all time I read this book from start to finish without putting it down It is than refreshing to see serious reads about people who also just happen to be members of the multiple minorities that affect life Linear style is difficult to do and keep the flow of the story and AJ Rose masters it I prefer this form because flashbacks are distracting and leave you without enough information and going past to present often loses you Linear style allows you to see w [...]

    23. This is by one of my autobuy authors. This story is mainly from Dane s point of view in the present day and past which is split chapter by chapter I preferred this method rather than constant flashbacks which are short and interrupt the flow of the story I didn t feel this happened by doing it by chapter Despite the alternating past present the story was easy to follow and didn t feel mixed up at all.As always I finished the book too quickly I fell in love with Craig and although I wanted everyth [...]

    24. AJ Rose has a way of pulling me into her stories so that I feel like I m not only engaged but invested in what s happening Dane s story is both heartbreaking and uplifting, as well as many other emotions in between I held my breath I cried I cheered I simply couldn t believe so many things could happen to one person, and to the degree shown here But when I stop to think about it, this is life everyone s life in some fashion or other and, in the end, there are many positive lessons to be learned [...]

    25. Was okay I liked the MCs and was interested and invested in their relationship and seeing how they fixed, grew, and settled, but this was really much too long with many unnecessary scenes, chapters, etc etc definitely felt it needed some pacing and tightening work Also, not sure how realistic all the therapy, medical, etc stuff was, but it didn t seem realistic enough to keep me fully immersed in the story Didn t make me believe, I guess, and that affected some of my attitude But again, liked th [...]

    26. DNF the emotional pain was too intense for me, I ve found that depression and anxiety means some books are now just too painful to read And struggled to read about Sabrina the manipulation was uncomfortable to read. Not a reflection on the author which is why I haven t rated this , just outside my comfort zone.

    27. Aj s writing always makes me want tofall in love with one, adooooore another, and just want to hug the shit out of the last Oh and quite possibly want to hurt a character or two I loved Craig something fierce and Dane is such a beautiful soul What he conquered and the man he became was amazing Definitely a good read.

    28. This book made me cry and I loved itThanks AJ for your wonderful story Really drew me in, Its a keeper made me cry but in a good way.Just read it alreadyhighly recommended.
